A CNG daughter station is established in locations surrounding a refueling station that lack access to natural gas pipelines. It refuels natural gas vehicles using gas transported from a mother station via specialized transport vehicles; typically, the facility is also equipped with a small-scale compressor and a bank of gas storage cylinders.
To maximize the gas extraction efficiency from the transport vehicles, a compressor is utilized to boost the pressure of the low-pressure gas contained within them, after which the gas is either transferred into the storage cylinder bank or dispensed directly into the natural gas vehicles.
